Additional information

Graduated from Bauman Moscow Higher Technical School with an engineer's diploma, 1965; candidate of technical sciences degree, 1985; engineer at Korolyov Design bureau; was selected as cosmonaut on 27.03.1973 (TsKBEM-3); was already assigned as backup for Soyuz 22; crewmember of aborted mission Soyuz T-10A; Instructor test cosmonaut and Department Head of RSC Energiya; retired on 17.01.1995, but continued his employment by a special contract until EO-18 (Soyuz TM-21) concluded; by the order of 6 February 2003, Gennadi Strekalov was transferred to the post of the leading scientific worker at RKKE; Strekalov has been the commander of the cosmonaut detachment of RKKE since 1985; died of cancer.
