Graduated from Military Fighter Pilot School, Armavir and Frunse (now: Bishkek), 1955; graduated from Zhukovsky Military Engineering Academy, Monino, 1968; Colonel and pilot, Soviet Air Force, Res.; was selected as cosmonaut on 07.03.1960 (TsPK-1); OKP (cosmonaut basic training): 4/60 - 1961; was assigned as backup for Voskhod 2; retired of medical reasons (stomach ulcer); then instructor (leading engineer), Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center; retired from active military duty 1987 and worked then as electronical engineer within the TsPK; since 1996 he was an pensioner.
