Graduated from Kachinsk Higher Military Pilot School, 1970; graduated from Zhukovsky Test Pilot School; graduated from Moscow Aviation Institute, 1980; civilian test pilot of LII; was selected as cosmonaut for Buran flights on 12.07.1977 (LII-1); OKP (cosmonaut basic training): 12/78 - 7/80; was assigned as double for Soyuz TM-4); died in a crash of a Su-26M aerobatic airplane on 18.08.1988 at LII (Zhukovsky Flight Research Center).
