Graduated from E.N.Bauman Moscow Higher Technical School (MVTU), 1949; engineer; doctorate degree in physics, 1967; professor since 1969; was assigned for Soyuz T-3, but was grounded a few days prior to launch because of medical problems; he was also supposed to fly a long duration mission to Salyut 7 in 1984, serving as a doctor in an "old-age-mission" to keep a close eye on his health, but he was bumped from the flight in 1983 due to a chronic illness that suddenly became acute; he joined NPO Energiya until 1990; then he served as professor at E.N.Bauman Moscow Higher Technical School (MVTU); later retired.
