Graduated from Higher Air Force School; test pilot, Soviet Airforce; was selected for Buran flights (GKNII-1); OKP (cosmonaut basic training): 1/79 - 11/80; flew six testflights with Buran; on 29.12.1993 retired; lost his both legs on 08.10.1996 in a crash landing of an AN-124 in Turin, Italy.
