Major General, USMC, Ret.; Bachelor of Science from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1952; Master of Science from the University of Southern California in 1968; 1963 for military astronaut - class-4 selected; last assignment was Deputy Commanding General, Marine Corps Development and Education Command, Quantico, Virginia. Retired from active duty in 1966 and worked then for Lockheed Corporation in Palmdale, Calfornia. 1993 he retired as Lockheed's U-2/TR-1 chief testpilot.
