In 1989 he was serving with the Royal Navy as
an engineer aboard nuclear powered submarines based at Faslane in Scotland; he
applied for the Juno mission and was given all support by the Royal Navy in
going through the selection process; he made it to the final group of 8
candidates before that group was reduced to four; he then resumed his career in
the Royal Navy and retired in the rank of Captain in 2001; he now lives with
his family on their farm in Australia; Roger enjoyed the Juno experience very
much and holds in great respect all those whom he encountered in the selection
process; in particular he felt priveleged to meet and get to know Tim
Mace
and Helen
Sharman who went on to complete the cosmanaut training. Now
