Bachelor of science in geology from University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, 1970; Master of science in geology from University of North Dakota, Fargo, 1980; Bachelor of science in geological engineering from the University of North Dakota, 1980; Colonel, USA, Ret.; from 1971 - 1974 he served in different military companies in Germany; in 1990 he was selected for the TERRA GEODE - US Army Project (because of funding reductions never flown); he retired from active duty in 1995; since 1991 he has been participating scientist in the Bering Glacier Research Group.
